Having A Fiesta In My Nouth | McDonalds UK Taste Of Spain & Cyprus Menu Review | The Spicy Spanish Stack & The Chicken Fiesta

 Hey everyone! 

Welcome to a brand new blog post! I recently tried the burgers from the limited edition Tastes Of Spain & Cyprus Range from McDonalds UK and I thought that today I’d talk to you all about them. 

The Spicy Spanish Stack 

‘Delicious layers of two 100% beef patties, chilli cheddar, red onion, spicy tomato sauce and lettuce served up in a warm paprika flavoured bun.’ - McDonalds UK. 

The texture of this wasn’t the best. The Meat was a bit dry which wasn’t too bad but I’m picky with textures and prefer my burgers to not be dry but I do get that it can happen on a busy day at McDonalds. This was contrasted with soft texture of the Paprika Bun and the crisp crunch that came from the Lettuce and Red Onion. 

The first element of this burger that jumped onto my tongue was the meat of the patty. Slightly seasoned and savoury. After this, the spicy tomato sauce danced on my tongue. Alongside this, the Red Onion jumped onto my tongue and provided an extra element of sharpness and spice. The final sort of flavour that tantalised my taste buds was the slightly creamy cheese which was instantly contrasted with the slightly spicy Paprika Bun which left a very subtle stain on the inside of my mouth. To me, I think that this burger could’ve packed a lot more flavour. I know taste is subject but I think that the spiciest could have stood out a little bit more but I guess with McDonalds catering to a UK audience who are known for keeping things mild then it made sense to do so with this burger. 6.5/10.

The Chicken Fiesta 

‘A delicious crispy chicken fillet topped with chorizo, chilli cheddar, spicy tomato sauce, red onion and lettuce served up in a warm toasted chilli and paprika topped bun.’ - McDonalds UK. 

The texture of this burger was amazing. The crunchy chicken contrasted with the crunchy batter and red onions. The sauce added a smoothness to the Burger whilst the cheese added some creaminess which went against the slightly floury burger bun amazingly. 

The taste of this burger was phenomenal in my opinion. The Chicken was succulent and had a very savoury taste to it. This contrasted with the slightly spicy Chorizo. These two were both contrasted with the refreshing Lettuce and Red Onion which added a bit of freshness. The Cheese cut through a bit of the savoury and spice even if it was meant to be Chilli Cheese…The Bun rounded everything out and have a lasting impression through its use of Chilli and Paprika. It’s obvious that the flavouring that I was missing in the firs burger was hiding in this second burger. 9/10.

Am I glad that I tried these burgers? Definitely. Would I want them to return to the menu at a later date? Probably the Chicken Fiesta as I loved the flavours of the burger.

McDonalds UK McPlant Review

Hey everyone! 

Welcome to a brand new blog post. I tried the McPlant from McDonalds recently and I thought that today I would talk to you all about it. 

'A vegan burger made with a juicy plant-based patty co-developed with Beyond Meat® featuring vegan sandwich sauce, ketchup, mustard, onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and a vegan alternative to cheese in a sesame seed bun.'

The texture of this burger was amazing. I sometimes do think that the burger meat at McDonalds can vary and can sometimes be a little dry but this patty was anything but dry. It was succulent and honestly did feel very much like the texture of a succulent burger to me. It reminded me very much of a succulent burger or a Swedish meatball sort of texture. Even though this burger provided lots of succulency, it did also contain some crunch which was a pleasant surprise. The mixture of the crunchy Pickles and onions ensured that this burger wasn't one dimensional unlike some of the other meat free burgers that I have tried before. 

When I took a bite of this burger, the first flavour profile that hit my tongue was the meaty and slightly smoky plant based patty. This particular patty was slightly subdue when it came to tasting of 'meat' and smoke but still packed a kick. The flavour of the burger patty itself wasn't too strong and allowed the other components of the burger sing in harmony with the patty. When this flavour died down on my tongue, the vegan sauce was the next to board the flavour train that was flourishing in my mouth. This particular sauce contained notes of sweet and sour due to containing a plethora of sauces and powders. Due to this combination of sauces, it meant that every bite that I took was a different tasting experience. Last but not least, the fresh vegetables and cheese jumped onto my palette. The mixture of fresh and sour vegetables mixed with the creamy and slightly sweet Vegan Cheese made for a concrete combination. I love sweet and salty or sweet and sour so the mix of creamy cheese and sour pickles is definitely one that I enjoyed. 

Would I buy this again? Definitely! For someone who is lactose intolerant, finding a fast food product that doesn't completely upset my stomach and tastes great is very rare. The taste of this burger is sensational and surprise surprise, I have enjoyed this burger a fair few times now and I have enjoyed it every time that I have tucked into it. I am definitely glad that times are changing and more establishments are catering to a plant based audience.

McDonalds Festive Burgers 2021 Review

Welcome to a brand new blog post. I tried the new two burgers that are out for the festive period at McDonalds and I thought that I would talk to you about them today. 

Blogger has decided to be weird so please ignore that this may not look like a normal blog post from this blog. 

 


Festive Stack

‘Two 100% British and Irish beef patties with a red onion relish, white cheese sauce, bacon, crispy onions, red onion, lettuce, cheddar cheese in a glazed brioche style bun‘.

I quite enjoyed the texture of this burger. The chewiness of the meat patties against the the crunchiness of the onion pieces was sublime. Once the crunchiness of the fried onions had stopped partying on my tongue, a smooth saucy wave hit my tongue which I absolutely adored. These three textural components for me made up most of the burger and made it a great eating experience.

The flavour of this burger only added to the excellent eating experience. When I took a bite of this burger, after the savouriness of the meat hit my tongue, a wave of rich and delicious red onion relish took over. I really enjoyed it. After the red onion calmed down, the cheese sauce hit my palette like a wave of creamy goodness which combines with the after taste of the onion relish ensured that the cheese sauce wasn’t too rich for my personal taste.

Festive Crispy Chicken

‘ A chicken breast fillet in a crispy coating, cranberry sauce, sage & onion mayo, bacon, red onion, lettuce, cheddar cheese in a glazed poppy and sesame seed bun’.

The texture of this burger was a unusual one for me. The poppy and sesame seed bun created crunch which was different as normally the sesame seeds on burger buns don’t usually provide any texture to the dish overall. After the crunch of the bun came the crunch of the patty itself and, for me; it was a bit too much. After the double crunch came the chew of the bacon which didn’t provide much except an aching jaw. All in all, personally it was just a bit too much.

The taste profile of this burger was fabulously festive. When I took my first bite I had a sea of savouriness flood my mouth, after this the sweet taste of classically festive Cranberry crashed my mouth. I quite like the mix of sweet and savoury so I loved them. Once this had dissipated, a creamy flavour coated my tongue. It was meant to be sage and onion Mayo but honestly it tasted more like savoury cream than stuffing to me but every palette is different.



Would I get them again? If I’m in McDonalds and want something festive then I would pick one up but I wouldn’t rush out to get them.

McDonalds Homestyle Crispy Chicken Burger Review

Hey everyone! 

Welcome to a brand new blog post! I treated myself to one of the new McDonalds Burgers recently and I thought that I would talk to you all about it. 

'A thick succulent chicken breast fillet in a crispy coating, a hot and spicy mayo and caramelised onion compote, seasonal lettuce, bacon, red onions, a slice of cheddar cheese and a glazed poppy and sesame seed bun.' - McDonalds UK. 

The texture of this product was amazing when I was eating it. The texture journey started off with the soft. soft bun which then surprised me with the slight popping of seeds on my tongue. I'm glad that it was a small amount, as sometimes too much seeds and you feel a bit like a bird trying to hectically get through the food. After this contrasting bun, comes the jammy Onion Compote which creates a good sort of texture appetiser for the start of the show which is the Crispy Chicken. I was pleasantly surprised by the texture of the Burger, as when you say Crispy from a fast food chain, you don't really expect it to be that crispy. However, this burger provided a good crispy which against the Onion Compote just made for the best mouth feel ever. After the crispines bounced on my tongue, the succulent Chicken meat were such a treat. I loved this burger just from its texture as a lot of fast food burgers claim to have a lot of texture going on but then once they are cooked, they end up losing their texture quite quickly, especially those that brands decide to wrap in paper/tin foil... 

As I have mentioned, this whole product was a big surprise to me. Not only did the texture create an experience in my mouth, but so did, the taste. The flavour journey started off with the tastiness from the seeds and bread jumping onto my tastebuds like there's no tomorrow. Once the nuttiness had dissipated, the deep umami bomb from the Onion Compote blasted all over my tongue. After a while, the kick of savouriness from the meat flooded my mouth like a river which then was cut by the sharpness of the onions. After this sharp kick, the finale of the taste experience was the Spicy Mayo that created a concoction of sweet, creamy, and warmth that left me wanting more. I was so surprised as some of the burgers that I have had from places have stated to be an experience and amazing, and they have just been really bland where this burger actually delivers. 

Would I buy this again? I'm really picky with Chicken Burgers/Sandwiches, but, yes I would definitely get this again. It has everything. Texture, umami, sweetness, sharpness. I thought that it was a good blend of flavours and textures.

McDonalds Katsu Curry Chicken McNuggets Review

 Hey everyone! 

Welcome to a brand new blog post. I thought that today, I would talk to you all about the brand new Katsu Curry Chicken McNuggets from McDonalds 

These McNuggets are a part of their brand new promotional menu that is around via stores, drive thru and delivery, from the 30th December and is available for six weeks only. 

I love Katsu Curry and I love fast food. So, when I saw that the two had combined in the format of McNuggets, I had to try them. I was out running some errands with Luke earlier today and remembered that it was the day of their release, and as a McDonalds location was in our reach, I decided to drag Luke along to try some. 

The texture of these McNuggets were amazing. Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of their original Nuggers because there isn't much of a textural difference and it puts me off a bit. These Katsu ones are different. They contain a spicy Panko coating. When I popped one of these Nuggets into my mouth, a crispy crunch enveloped my mouth making me want to pop another one into my mouth instantly. I loved popping these into my mouth. After the crispness came a wave of succulent Chicken. I'm always a bit dubious of Fast Food based Chicken because it normally ends up being on the dry side. This definitely wasn't the case with these Nuggets. The Chicken was tender and succulent and I loved it. It was such a pleasant surprise!

The taste of these were different. The Panko contained a wonderful blend of spices that danced upon my tastebuds. The spices were warm but not spicy and left me wanting more. I loved these warming spices as they contrasted beautifully against the coolness of the Chicken that lied within. Sadly, I wasn't fully a fan of the Curry Sauce and Nugget combination as the Curry Sauce that was provided had such bold fruity notes, that it, overwhelmed the flavour of the Nuggets themselves. The Sweet and Sour Sauce was a better match for these as it still added a note of fruitiness that you would get within a Katsu Sauce (S&B Katsu sauces contain Apple which gives a fruity roundness to their sauces) but still allowed the palette to grab onto the warming spices. I think that McDonalds should've created a separate Katsu sauce for these Nuggets instead of relying on the Dips that they already have for other products. 

Would I buy these again? Yes I would! I loved the uniqueness of these. I loved the warm notes that were provided by the spices and the Panko coating made me want to go back for more and more. I think that these are a great addition to the McDonalds UK menu, even if they are only available for a short time.

Jamie Noms Through Christmas | McDonalds Festive Menu 2019

Welcome to a brand new Jamie Noms Through Christmas post. Sadly, this is the last one. I thought that, today, I would talk to you all about McDonalds Festive Menu 2019. I'm sure that you've seen the amazing Reindeer Ready adverts.

Chicken Deluxe 

'Two tender Chicken Selects layered with creamy Emmental cheese. Topped with a zesty tomato relish and cool mayo.' - McDonalds Website

Sadly. there were good things and bad things about this product. I'll start with the bad, and, then get into the good. The Bad thing about this burger, was, that it was pretty much two Selects, and, honestly made it feel less like a burger. Especially when the Selects have a tendency to fall out easily and then you're just eating bun and stuff. The contrast between the cool Mayo and the Relish was really nice. The Relish had a bit of a sweet vibe going on, which meant that the cool cool mayo accentuated the sweetness and made everything feel harmonious within this burger. The Cheese added a bit of Goo, which I always love, which made the burger experience that little bit more enjoyable. I'd try it again but id be careful when it comes to ensuring that the Selects stay in the actual burger...

Cheese Melt Dippers Sharebox 

'Twelve camembert dippers coated in a crispy crumb.' - McDonalds Website

I love anything that is deep fried and Cheese based. My stomach might not, but my soul and my brain definitely do. These were delicious, but, I would definitely mention that it is best to have them whilst they are still warm as they aren't as delicious when cold. I love the contrast between the smooth milky Cheese, against, the crisp outer shell of the Dipper. Crunchy and smooth, mmm. What I love more, is the, flavour contrast against the cooling milky Camembert, and, the tangy/slightly sour Tomato Dip which gives the whole thing a good amount of Zing. If I could get the Dip on its own to use on everything, then I would!

Mint Matchmaker McFlurry 

'Soft dairy ice cream swirled with Mint Matchmaker pieces and chocolate mint sauce.' McDonalds Website.

This was a weird one for me. I love Mint, but this was a sort of Mint that punched me in the face and told me that 'IT'S CHRISTMAS!' The fab part about this McFlurry was the sauce. Dark Chocolate with a subtle touch of Mint. The Chocolate stood out the most to me. I loved this because every so often, it ensured that you had a little bit of a break from the strong hit of pure Mint flavour from the Matchmakers. I loved the sort of nubbly texture that the Matchmakers provided against the smooth ice Cream. I would definitely try this again just for the Chocolate sauce alone. This McFlurry would go great with maybe a Toffee Latte/Hot Chocolate I feel.

Millionaire's Donut

An indulgent iced caramel doughnut with gooey caramel filling, topped with biscuit pieces and a dark cocoa drizzle.

I loved this, even, if on the whole I got very big Krispy Kreme vibes. The dough itself tasted like it had been home made which is an amazing thing. I love when you can tell the dough from donuts has been made and freshly fried. It just gives it an different dimension of flavour to it. The biscuit pieces added a tiny bit of crunch on top, but kind of made the whole thing messy as to eat. Sometimes, I love that, but if I was walking and eating this, which some may do to the office, then this wouldn't be such a great point to the product. The main part of the show was the ooey-gooey Caramel Filling. Rich, buttery and thick. Oh, I would pour this on anything and everything as it is that good.

Lets Dunk It Into A Fiery Pit | Spicy Chicken McNuggets Sharebox

Hey everyone! 

Welcome to a brand new blog post! McDonalds released Spicy Chicken McNuggets a couple of weeks ago, and, I thought that today I would talk to you all about them. (Who doesn't love a good McNugget?)

McDonalds have brought out an 'Old Classics' promotional range out to their UK stores for a limited time. The concept of this range, is to bring back, old classics that customers have loved in the past/have demanded for them to come back to the UK menu in some way shape or form. The range asp includes, a Double Quarter Pounder With Cheese, Cheese Bites, and, Twix and Mars McFlurry's.

The Spicy Chicken McNuggets come in a choice of either, 6,9, or 20. I decided to get a 20 Spicy Chicken McNugget Sharebox, because, well I needed to try a fair few for.... 'blog purposes'. The McNuggets come with their own special dip, which I will talk about later within the post.

The McNuggets

The McNuggets come in a sort of fluorescent Red coating, which instantly baffled me. I wondered why they were so Red. I got why, to show that they had Spice compared to the normal McNuggets but I thought that it was, well weird, to be so Red that even Tomatoes aren't that Red. The Coating itself was actually quite crisp, with a light sort of batter feel to it, which was definitely a nice contrast against the Chicken itself. The Chicken was super succulent. You could tell that it was proper Chicken. it felt like the Chicken had been marinated in Buttermilk or something similar.

The Spice is a slightly interesting one for me. These have a more warming than anything Spice to them. It's obvious that there's some Paprika in them. I think that the Spice level in the McNuggets alone would be fabulous on a cold evening. I do think that when eating these one after another, the warmth does build up which I still quite like. It's more the sauce and the nugget combined which makes it ultra spicy and tangy.

Dip

The Dip is where the Spice really kicks in. The first note that I got from the dip was Vinegar. That sort of lip suckering tang which made your mind go, 'this might not end well.' It's a Spicy Tomato Dip. The Tomato is definitely there but once the Tomato has melted away from your taste buds, the inferno kicks in and your tongue is enduring a tangy fiery kick that came from nowhere. I like the Dip, but my main problem with it is that you can't choose any other. This becomes a bit of a problem when you get four tubs of it. I think that maybe a creamy one, like the Sour Cream and Onion one from the Selects would be fabulous, or, maybe something a bit more fruity would be amazing with these too.

Would I Get Them Again? 

I think that I would definitely get them again. They're slightly different but amazing. Would I stop getting normal nuggets for these? Maybe, I'm not sure. If there was a choice for different dips, like the normal McNuggets, then probably yes. I think that these have a time and a place and I think that these are great. Honestly, I wish that both had the sort of succulent Chicken interior, as the normal ones are always a tad dry. I think that these would be great for things such as night ins/parties, as you can all try them and tell each other your opinion of the McNuggets and Dip, especially if you love a good McNugget like myself.

Loving The Signature On The Packet | McDonalds Signature Collection Event

Welcome to a brand new post! The wonderful guys over at McDonalds invited me to come along to their Signature Collection Event within Bramley. Leeds and I thought that today I would talk to you guys all about it.

Signature Collection is a brand new range from McDonalds which uses fresh high quality ingredients. They have three different burgers which are The Classic, The BBQ and The Spicy. The Signature Collectuon have only been within certain McDonalds restaurants within the UK but are now coming to all stores including UberEats which means that you can enjoy one in your very own home.

Myself and Luke arrived at the event and was welcomed by the members of the PR team that were covering the event. The room was alive with atmosphere and conversation as there were plenty of people that were here for the event.

Myself and Luke ordered a drink (Coca Cola.) After the drinks were placed onto our table, a little talk was given which included the background of the Signature Collection and he limited edition Signature Collection box that was created by Julian McDonald. Fun fact: McDonalds have only prodced  1,000 of the bespoke Julian McDonald boxes

We were then asked which one of the burgers from the Signature Collection range would we like to try. Myself and Luke stuck to The BBQ due to the fact that my voice had gone and I didn't think getting The Spicy would be a great idea and I like BBQ anything really. I will list the contents of al three down below just in case you want to know about each different one before I talk about what I thought of the Signature Collection Burger itself.

• The Classic - 100% British and Irish Beef, Beechwood Smoked Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Wholegrain Mustard Mayo, Ketchup, Lettuce and Red Onion, all in a Brioche style Bun.
• The BBQ - 100% British and Irish Beef, BBQ Sauce, Coleslaw, Red Onion, Lettuce, Beechwood Smoked Bacon and Cheddar Cheese, all in a Brioche style Bun.
• The Spicy - 100% British and Irish Beef, Jalapeño Slices, Pepper Jack Cheese, Lettuce, Hot & Spicy Mayo and a Spicy Relish, all in a Brioche style Bun.

The Burger, Fries and Drink arrived. I got a Chocolate Milkshake as I thought that it would help my throat a little. The Fries were delicious and had a little bit of a sort of Paprika Seasoning on them? I'm not completely sure what the seasoning was but I adored them! The Burger had a delicious yet thick Beef Patty which had a slight bit of Pepper to it I believe. the Bacon added a bit of texture as it was Crispy, the Coleslaw was quite refreshing against the sweet BBQ sauce and the Red Onions were mixed in with the Coleslaw a bit which took a bit of the rawness away from them. I loved the Brioche style Bun as it just added a lovely softness to the Burger as a whole but it also meant no Sesame Seeds. I love a good Sesame Seed, dont get me wrong, but it was nice to have a break from them.

We chatted and then decided to get a selfie in the Golden Throne and then head off back home after saying our goodbyes.

Delivering The Good Times This Summer | McDelivery In Leeds

Welcome to a brand new post! Today, I thought that I would talk to you guys about the new McDelivery concept that McDonalds has brought to selected cities within the UK with Uber Eats.

McDonalds have recently brought out the McDelivery concept with delivery brand Uber Eats to selected cities which includes Leeds, London and many other cities. McDelivery gives you the ability to order your favourite McDonalds food within a 1.5 mile radius of selected McDonald's restaurants within the selected city. 

It came to the time where I was craving McDonalds so I decided to use McDelivery whilst I was in Leeds so I decided to download the Uber Eats app and login. (If you've already got an Uber account then all you have to do is login via that account which makes the journey of getting your food that little bit quicker.)

When you sort your location out, you can then find your local participating McDonalds via the app. The participating restaurants that I could choose from were McDonalds Briggate, McDonalds St John's Centre and McDonalds Kirkgate. At the time of ordering, McDonalds Briggate was the quickest to deliver so I decided to order from  that one.

I scrolled through the menu and decided on what I wanted. Sadly, the specials such as the limited edition McFlurry's and Burgers aren't available to be delivered but everything else is including Breakfast. (Imagine ordering that McMuffin that you need to perk yourself up with on a boring Monday morning!) I placed my order which consisted of two Wrap Meals and a Mayo Chicken for myself and Luke.

When you put your order into the cart, you have the ability to add additional information such as No Cheese, Extra Sauce etc so I added to ensure that my drink had No Ice as that's how I like it. This means that you still have the ability to make your meal your own.

I placed the order and got told what was happening to it and what time to expect the order. I watched the phone and waited for the order to arrive. It arrived and when talking to the delivery person, He then asked for me to double check that everything that I ordered was in the bag which it was.

The food was delicious and warm just like it would be when you order in McDonalds. Even though, there is a £2.50 delivery charge, which isn't as bad as it could be for delivery charges, I do think that its a great idea for when you want a McDonalds when you're at home. I also think that its a great idea for those who might end hungove rat the end of the weekend and all they want is a McDonalds meal delivering to them.

I'm Loving Making My Own Big Mac | McDonalds Briggate

Hey,

If you have been a reader for a while then you will know that sometimes after blogger event myself, Luke and Michelle normally end up in McDonalds within Leeds Train Station so when McDonalds invited me to a bloggers event within Leeds, I had to say yes!

I walked up to the grand building and met the PR team that had sorted out the event and said hi to Kelly. We walked up to the top floor and sat down in a quiet corner away from the rest of the customers that were enjoying their meals. I sat down and was asked if I would like anything to drink. I automatically said yes and asked for a water as it was the hottest day of the year and I was already sweltering in a thin top and shorts.

We met the manager and franchiser of the Leeds Briggate/Trinity Leeds branch and the surrounding area who talked about some of the myths that are related with McDonalds such as that people sometimes still don't believe that the french fries are made with real fresh potatoes. He also told us about how more stores are slowly being renovated and fitted with touch screen machines and table service so your meal is brought to you.

We made our way back downstairs towards the touchscreen machines where we were given a demonstration of them. The touchscreen's have a sort of app layout to them. You can scroll up and down through all the categories and then you have a sort of box window on the right with a more of a slide left to right feel to it. This sort of layout means that you actually have a chance of scrolling through the menu and deciding on what you want instead of going for the usual thing because the counters are busy.

I found out that you can adjust and personalise the meal to what you want. I also learnt that there is other options when it comes to getting a meal eg you can get things like carrot sticks instead of fries and that you can get things such as orange juice with your meal. This means if you're having a cheat day or anything of that sort then you can have your McDonalds and not feel too bad at the same time.

We were then directed to the back of the restaurant where we were shown the stock rooms, the chillers and all of the stock such as things for coffees, things for McFlurrys. components of Big Macs and many other things. The chillers were amazing because it was sweltering outside but in the chillers the temperature was amazing!

We were given a hat, an apron and a badge. We were then told that myself and Kelly were going to be making our own Big Macs. It looked stressful but I had some help from an employee so I managed to make one without burning the store down and making it not look like a complete mess. We took our creations back upstairs and chatted some more with a nice side of French Fries and a Chocolate and Honeycomb Frappe. (I had never tried any of their Frappes before but it was gorgeous!)

We chatted some more about anything and everything, ate the amazing food and slurped on our drinks and then thanked everyone and said our goodbyes!
