Glowing Greater Than The Gods | Revolution Beauty Liquid Highlighter & x Soph Highlighter Look & Review

Hey everyone!

Welcome to a brand new blog post! I thought that, today I would talk to you all about some Highlighters that I have been trying out lately. If makeup isn't your thing, then check out some of my other posts. If you love makeup then carry on reading.

Revolution are a well known high street beauty and makeup brand, Revolution are well known for creating amazing products at very affordable price tags. Revolution are also known for their ranges that are in collaboration with influences and their top notch highlighter ranges, As I've only heard god things about their highlighter ranges, I thought that it was time to try a couple of them.

Me with short dark brown hair wearing round green and black glasses wearing a blue t-shirt with a picture go a white and blue dog on it with red dungarees over the top with a shine all over my fave to represent the highlight on a bright background

This is my first proper makeup review so please don't judge me if it isn't the most informative.

Revolution Liquid Highlighter in Starlight

As I have been watching a fair few drag makeup tutorial videos, that start off with putting down a liquid/cream layer of makeup before putting on a powder version on top, I thought that it would be good to get a liquid highlighter and a powder highlighter to ensure that I got the most shine possible. I wanted to be glowing greater than the gods.

I walked into my local Superdrug, and scoured the store for the highlighter section on the Revolution stand. When I had found it, a problem arised, I had no idea what shade I was, so I decided to swatch a couple of the testers on my hand to see which one matched the best. After deciding that Starlight was the one that matched my nearly as pale as a vampire's skin, another problem happened. A lot of the ones in my shade were already somewhat open. After a fair few moments, I found a unopened Starlight. I grabbed it like it was the ring from Lord Of The Rings and made my way to the till very quickly. (My precious...)

The product comes in a sort of metallic finished bottle with a pipette to get the product out. I love the packaging alone, because well I love anything with a metallic finish. It's also sleek and compact therefore its easy to fit into any makeup bag. It took me a few times to properly master the getting as much as I want from a pipette technique, but once I did I loved what came out.

The colour is a sort of white to silver sheen with a touch of pink to it which I love. As I said, my face is pretty much near to the same colour as a pale vampire, so having a bit of a pink undertone in my highlighter means that it will warm my face a touch and just make the silver pop that little bit extra. I love this colour too because even before applying it, I could tell that it was going to make me shine bright than well the Sun during a British Heatwave weekend.

The highlighter blends onto the skin beautifully. It has a creamy texture and could be used mixed into a foundation to give it a more glow look. I loved the shine from this alone and it lasted for a good couple of hours. The best way that I found to use it was to blend it with a wet beauty sponge as a brush wasn't doing much.

This highlighter was £6 when I purchased it which is a great price for any high street highlighter.

Soph x Highlighter Palette

I got this a while ago, after Michelle used it on me before going on one of our epic nights out. These always start with catching up and end up with us both having no voices from singing. This palette contains 8 different highlighter shades to suit most shades of skin. I only use the first four due to my skin being very pale. (Read the Liquid Highlighter to find out how pale my skin is...) I mainly use a mic of all four or the top two in the left corner. (I have zero idea on the shade names.) This creates a very shiny powder highlight that can be built up for more intensity. I used the top two on top of the liquid highlighter for more shine, and, because well, there was a heatwave when I was using them so I needed to ensure that the liquid highlighter didn't end up melting down my face.

There was a bit of fall out with this one, but most powder highlighters have a tiny bit of fall out. I used this all over the body and the face, but this could be used wherever you want, I think that its an amazing palette and if you mix some of the shades together, it can create a unique shade for yourself.

This palette was £10 which is an amazing price for 8 highlighters. It is more than worth the money and there is a good amount of product in each pan.

Final Thoughts

I would give the Revolution Liquid Highlighter a 9/10. The only fall down was getting the amount that I wanted out of the pipette and I would give the Soph X Highlighter Palette a 9/10. My own critique would be about the slight fall out but that's expected with all powder products.

Feeling Fly And Rated R | Fenty Beauty First Impressions

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to a new post! I've been gone a bit of a while/I've only been posting one to two posts a week, mainly due to things such as, moving back home for the Summer, coping with everything mentally, and trying to enjoy some me time. Anywho, I thought that today, I would talk to you all about Fenty Beauty and all of their new products. I was going to talk about it a few weeks ago, but, read above.

Moroccan Spice

The packaging to this is super fashionable and compact. It honestly reminds me of hotel tiles, which I feel like ia what Fenty were going for when designing the product as it mimics the tiles in hotels within Marrakesh/Morocco? One main problem I had straightaway was the fact that the names were on the back, because, having slightly bad vision and a memory like a sieve will mean that I will have no idea what half the names are. The shades look super pigmented and rich within the pans therefore I could tell that the colours would be sharp before I even swatched them. i swatched and, oh my god, I loved them. First of all, I love how the palette has a mix of mattes and shimmers, because it means you can create a stunning day look and then amp it up later with a tad bit of shimmer to make that night out a bit more spicy.

A medium sized black and blue plastic case containing a rectangular glass mirror, and diamond shaped pans containing different metallic and matte eyeshadows including blues, greens and golds on a bright background. \

The ones I swatched include: Mo'Rockin Ice: Shisha Smoke: Quicksand and Evil Genie. The Shimmers which are Mo'Rockin Ice and Evil Genie were super shimmery, and, honestly would draw anyone to your eyes when the light hits your face, even, if you have quite blinding highlight on. Mo'Rockin Ice is a iridescent icy pink colour with bright pink shimmer which drew me instantly because bright Pink reminds me of early summers listening to P!nk and enjoying ice creams with pink balls of Bubblegum at the bottom of them. Evil Genie is a bright Turquoise pearl. Turquoise is a brigth Summery colour as it is, but, I have loved anything Turquoise for years, even to the point of dyeing my hair that exact colour, a fair few years ago. Shisha Smoke is a Matte Blue Grey, which, is a good enough colour on it's own for a day look especially if you put a tad bit of Mo'Rockin Ice in the corners of your eyes to make them pop, or, you could always layer Shisha Smoke and a darker colour in the palette to create a smoky look or, even add a layer of Evil Genie on top to make it into a glamorous look. Quicksand is a Satin Papaya shade, so it's a sort of golden orange colour which honest;y if you're a medium skin tone, it would look amazing as a transition colour. I think that maybe this on it's own for anyone thats pale like myself, it would be good enough on it's own for a subtle summery beach day look.

Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner

Okay, so, everyone knows what an eyeliner is, but as the cosmetics industry grows, so does the amount of makeup products. We now have pencil, liquid, gel and hybrid liners. This eyeliner is pretty fly for a reason. The tip is quite fine from what i remember but the liner is super pigmented, and is pretty longwear. It took me two days and three different cleansers to get it completely off the back of my hand. This liner is definitely one that people will keep talking about for months and months to come.

A thin gold cylindrical eyeliner with a black bottom and black tip inside a gold cylindrical lid on a bright bavkground.

Summer Nights Iridescent Lip Luminizer Trio

I saw these in store and instantly fell in love with them. These Lip Luminizers are literally the epitome of Summer Lips. They're shimmery but also sort of dark and mysterious due to the shifts in the shades. The texture of them reminds me of sort of liquid lip, just from the feel of it. You pay for all three shades in one, so I'll go through them one by one.

First of all, theres Snake Skin. This shade is a holographic Burgundy/Green Shift which is to die for. Honestly, I think that this might suit darker skin colours a bit more, but, when I swatched it, I honestly wanted to cover my hand in it because, it's that pretty. As I said, the texture is a sort of liquid to shimmer so I'd say either apply this on top of a sort of already burgundy colour, or, just apply it on its own. This and a smoky eye would be a stunning look.

The second shade is Mermaid Thighs, which is a holographic Blue/Purple Shift. Before we even get into the product itsefl, what a name! If I was wearing Mermaid Thights, I'd be telling everyone. To be honest with you, if I had 'Mermaid Thighs', i'd be shoving them in my friends faces, telling them to look at my beautiful Mermaid Thighs! I love anything that is Blue or Purple. I just love how it makes anything pop around it. If you were going for a full sort of blue look, then, it would go perfectly with a couple of shades mentioned in the Moroccan Spice section. The colour of this one looked beautiful and instantly reminded me of a dark water warrior when swatching.

Last on the lippies is, Vaycray. I could always go for a crazy vacation. This has a holographic Gold/Pink Shift to it. I think that this would go perfectly with Mo'Rockin Ice when teaming it up with something to make a completely realised look. I think that it would also make a sort of nice clean lip look to something dramatic on the eyes. I just love how the shift makes it go from luxurious and serious, to, luxurious and fun. These lip products also smell amazing and sweet too, which is a plus, because personally I'm not the biggest fan of products smelling chemically when they're being applied to my lips, as I'll end up smelling it for ages due to being under my nose.

Three clear glass cylindrical tubes with gold cylindrical lids. One containing green, one containing gold and one containing blue on a bright background.

Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter Duo

I hold my hands up! I only swatched one of the Killawatt's. I didn't have the entire day to swatch everything that I dream to have. I also needed food, and, I'm sorry but I'm sure Rihanna would agree with me, that food is very important. The Killawatt that I swatched was the foil based one because, well, my eyes were drawn to it instantly. The Killawatt is a cream-powder hybrid which I wasn't sure about, but, I quite liked the formula once it had all settled on my hand. (I'm really particular with hybrids due to my skin being dry as the humidity in Morocco.) The two shades that you get are 7DayWknd which is a Metallic Orchid and Poolside which is a Metallic Violet. Honestly, they're both amazing but i loved the deeper Violet a tad bit more.

Does It Work, Work, Work? | First Impressions Of Fenty Beauty Body Lava & Fairy Bomb

Hey everyone!

Welcome to a brand new post. As the title says, I thought that today, I would talk to you all about the new body highlighters, but in particular, the new Body Lava and Fairy Bomb, that are available via Harvey Nichols and Fenty Beauty.

A white hand holding a large cylindrical glass bottle with Fenty Beauty written in block white small font on the front of it with a light brown sparkly liquid on the insde on a light background.

Unlike other beauty reviews on Jamie Sowden, I am going off my first impression of these products. you don't have to agree with me, and, there are many other reviews on the internet but the opinions in the post are mine.

That post-vacay glow is now yours year-round thanks to Body Lava. This smooth, gel-based body luminizer glides on and leaves skin feeling dewy to the touch. Get ready to bathe your skin in a high-shine finish that does to your body what highlighter does to your cheekbones. Celebrate the look and feel of glistening skin after a day of island hopping. Light-diffusing micropearls blended with a sheer tint of colour accentuate all skin tones for a silky, sun-soaked sheen any time of the year. Strip down in Who Needs Clothes?!, a rose gold, or glow up in Brown Sugar. Delivered in a generously sized bottle, Body Lava's ultimate drenched-in-light radiance - plus its addictive floral vanilla scent - was born to dew your body right. FENTY Beauty is 100% cruelty free.

I wandered into Harvey Nichols with my friend, Abbey, the other week, to have a look at some products. We stumbled across the Fenty Beauty counter, and, thought that we should finally see if the new products were wotth the hype that they were receiving on platforms such as Social Media.

The outer bottle that contains the product has a high fashion expensive glass look to it which ensures that you feel fabulous holding the product, before, you've even pumpled out some of the product. The product retails for £46, so, it's great that the packaging is lavish and fabulous, as it makes you feel like the product is already worthy of purchase before even using it.

The product comes in two different shades, Who Needs Clothes?, and Brown Sugar. I tried both at the counter. Who Needs Clothes is a silver shimmery colour, which I guess is for us pale folks who want to sparkle like Diamonds, and Brown Sugar, which is, for those with a darker complexion and want to feel like the only person in the world, but on me it looked like really bad streaky fake tan. The shimmer on both were to die for. The shimmer would look amazing, especially when the Sun hits it, but let's be frank, England gets sunny weather for one week, and then we don't see it again for another 4 years.

The smell of Body Lava is mainly, Vanilla with a hint of Peony, I would say. I think that some may find this a little bit overpowering, but I, personally love it. Most cosmetic brands have products that don't smell of much, so I love how Fenty have released a product that is nearly as good enough to eat as it it is to apply it.

The texture, sadly, is the main disappointment for me. When you apply it, it has a wet oil texture to it, which is expected due to the description, but when you leave it to dry on the body, it becomes really sticky and tacky, which doesn't feel right at all on the skin. The tackiness calms down during the day, but honestly, for £46, I expect it to glide on and to sink into the skin without leaving a sticky feeling.

Like no body luminizer you’ve ever seen before, this limited-edition Glittering Pom Pom is pre-packed with superfine 3D shimmer, born to let loose with every touch. Just dab and glow! Ultra soft and larger-than-life Fairy Bomb makes old school glam an everyday luxury, delivering smooth, hyper-reflective glitter in all its glory. Bless your body from head to toe in a superfine glittering veil. The single rose gold shade, Rosé On Ice, coats skin in the perfect prismatic pink designed to light up all skin tones. Plus, it’s softly scented with irresistible vanilla coconut for a full-on sensorial experience you can’t get enough of.

So first of all, a Highlighting Bomb is a completely new concept to the beauty world, and, I give kudos to Fenty for that.

The scent is a little bit sweeter than Body Lava, but I still love it as it represents the Fairy-ness of Fairy Bomb. I love how the scent lingers so, you don/t need much of a fragrance on top of it, which is fab for those days, where you want to look fab with minimal effort.

The packaging again is exquisite and lovely, but, I wouldn't expect anything less for a product that retails for £34. The box that it comes in could definitely be used for many other things such as little trinkets and jewelry as it has that luxurious bazaar feel to it.

The product itself is a cute pink puff that you dab to release the highlighter on the body. The only main problem that I found with it, was that, you had to forcefully dab/batter yourself to get the highlighter due to it being in one main place. I feel like trying to do this in a morning when getting ready, would end up in, injuries and screaming at a beauty product. I think that a puff with highlighter in it for £34 is a bit expensive, even I'm a cheaper puff, and you get more than just a highlighter with me... I think that the novelty of it is good, but, I would definitely prefer it in a powder in a form of pan form.

Apparently, you're meant to use both products together. Even though, this might be a great idea and it would mean, that, you smell amazing and look sparkly as hell. I don't think that it would be worth the combined £80 price tag.

Let me know what you think of these new two products down below.

Shop Fenty at Harvey Nichols and Fenty Beauty in the UK. Other stores for worldwide purchase include Sephora and many more.

I hope that you're having a great day. I hope that you enjoy this blog post and I hope that you come back to read another one soon!
