Krispy Kreme UK Vegan Doughnuts Review

Hey everyone!

Welcome to a brand new blog post! I recently tried the three new Vegan Doughnuts from Krispy Kreme UK and I thought that I would talk about them to you all today.

A zoomed in photo of a white cylindrical cup filled with coffee with a red circular lid and Krispy Kreme written in red and green font next to a open rectangular box filled with three round doughnuts. One with brown crumble on top, one with brown dark chocolate and dark brown square brownie on top and one with dark brown chocolate and gold caramel on top on a square light brown rectangular table on a bright background

Apple Custard Crumble

‘A classic apple and custard vegan filled doughnut which is topped with icing & a cinnamon crumble crumb.’ - Krispy Kreme UK.

So the texture of this doughnut was a bit tough compared to the other two vegan doughnuts which I was a bit unsure about. It seemed soft but sort of stale around the edges? It was a bit weird. The texture of the rest of doughnut was sublime otherwise. The interior was slightly chunky but smooth at the same time due to the mixture of the apple and custard which I adored and the crunchy crumble on the top contrasted beautifully with this instantly making me fall in love with this doughnut!

The taste of this doughnut was delightful! When I took a bite, the first flavour profile that hit my tongue was a sweet vanilla taste from the dough. Once this taste had dissipated, the next flavour that hit my palette was the slightly tart but fresh apple flavour. I love a good tart apple flavour in a sweet dish as this contrasts against all of the sweetness normally and stops the sweet dish (in this case the doughnut) from being sickly. The vanilla from the custard blended into the apple flavour and normally I’m a bit iffy about custard and fruit flavours mixed together but I really loved this one. Once this combination had left my tongue, the last flavour to hit the inside of my mouth was the cinnamon crumble. Now, if you know me well then you will know that I absolutely love cinnamon. The level of cinnamon in this doughnut was quite subdue though which would enable people who aren’t friends of cinnamon to enjoy the doughnut but me being me I would have loved a bit more cinnamon here.

Fudge Brownie Bliss

‘Indulge in our delicious Belgian chocolate filled doughnut, topped with chocolate icing, dark chocolate drizzle & crunchy brownie pieces. ‘ - Krispy Kreme UK.

This doughnut was similar texture to the one above but the brownie decorations actually added a bit of texture to this doughnut. The decoration added a much needed crunch to this product which I really enjoyed.

The main flavour that I got from this doughnut was chocolate. I know that this sounds severely obvious but the level of chocolate throughout eating this product was varied which I really liked. The doughnut had a slightly sweeter flavour to it which when contrasted against the slightly more molten dark chocolate filling made for a more three dimensional tasting experience compared to other chocolate baked products that I’ve had before which have ended up being really bland and one dimensional.

Caramel Choc Delight

‘Made fresh, delicious and vegan friendly doughnut. With a double filling of creamy caramel and Belgian chocolate, topped with caramel icing & dark chocolate.’ - Krispy Kreme UK.

Honestly the texture of this was quite one note. It was soft which doughnut: should be but that was about it.

The taste was questionable for me. The first flavour that jumped onto my tongue was the vanilla from the dough and then it all got a little bit confusing.

Even though there was chocolate and caramel in the middle, neither of these flavours jumped onto my tongue. The main flavour that I got from the interior of this doughnuts was pretty much just sugar. I did get a bit more of a chocolate note from the topping of the doughnut but again the one dimensional sugar flavour overwhelmed any other flavour that was in or on this doughnut. Honestly, I’d say try this flavour but In my opinion the two flavours mentioned above were ten times better.

Would I buy them again? The first two definitely. I think I would even get a dozen of just the apple flavour which is rare for me to say. All three are definitely worth a try though! Thank goodness for brands releasing vegan items that my lactose intolerant stomach can handle.

Have you tried these? Have you tried any amazing Vegan products lately?

Putting All The Plants To The Test | Vegan Fast Food Product Review

Hey everyone!

Welcome to 2020. I thought that today, I would talk to you all, about, my opinion on Veganuary, and my thoughts on some of the Vegan products that have been released due to Veganuary.

So Veganuary, has been in the media for any and every reason. Ranging from health benefits for joining in and going Vegan for a month, to, ranting TV personalities harping on about it being rubbish and being reluctant to try a Vegan/Plant based item on National TV. I personally think that Veganuary is great. Yes, it might be hard to say, but, its a great way for people to slowly introduce plant based products into their diets. I also love it, as it means, that brands and supermarkets, expand their Vegan ranges thus ensuring that I have more of a choice when it comes to wanting lactose free items without having to go on an adventure to find them.

KFC

KFC announced that they were releasing a Vegan burger that would ensure that Vegans and plant based dieters were able to enjoy the delicious 11 herbs and spices that meat eaters have been enjoying for years.

'An Original Recipe QUORN™ fillet, coated in our famous 11 Herbs and Spices, in a sesame bun with fresh lettuce and vegan mayo.' (KFC's Website)

The Sesame Bun was a tad dry, the Mayo was great but there wasn't enough of it. The Lettuce added a bit of textural contrast. The burger itself was kind of weird. By weird, what I mean, is that it was pretty dry when tasting it for the first bite, but after applying some Ketchup to the fillet itself, it became unbelievably tender? I loved how tender the fillet was, but I shouldn't have had to apply moisture to it in the form of ketchup to make it tender. The taste however, was amazing from the get go. The herbs and spices came through. in particular, the Pepper came out the most when tasting the fillet on its own. I would definitely get this again if the Fillet itself was tender from the get go. I mean, I still want five even though the fillet wasn't the most tender to begin with.

Subway

Subway have killed it with Vegan Subs in the past. They released their first Vegan Sub in 2019, and, I loved it. That rich creamy Garlic Aioli was to die for. I'm not saying, that, I'd be fine with it being used on me as massage oil, but, I'm also not saying that I wouldn't be fine with it... Y'know? For 2020, Subway have decided to release a Meatless version, of, their well known Meatball Marinara Sub.

'Your bread selection filled with our plant based Meatless Meatballs smothered in a rich marinara sauce and topped with vegan cheese.' (Subway UK Website.)

I love Subway. I love their option of being able to choose what you want.I love their Footlong's as they're filling, and I love their balls, so I was more than intrigued to try the Plant based version. I was going to talk about the Sub as a whole, but it makes more sense to talk about the Meatless Balls, Marinara Sauce and Vegan Cheese.

Honestly, the Meatless Balls were amazing. They were pretty similar to the normal Meatballs in the form of texture. Slightly crispy on the outside, with a springy interior that is to die for. The only thing that made them different really was the taste. They were a tad on the bland side. If they had a bit of seasoning to them, then they would be perfect. The sauce, was exactly like the Marinara sauce that everyone loves, but, it was kind of thicker. I loved this because, well, I am the messiest eater you will ever meet in your life. The Cheese was amazing. I love Lacto Free/Vegan Cheese. This one melted amazingly. Honestly, I could just eat a mountain of the Vegan Cheese melted all day long.

A bright golden brown rectangular sandwich filled with spherical dark brown balls and a red sauce on a bright white piece of parchment paper in a green oval basket on a bright brown table on a bright background

Greggs

A year after the Vegan Sausage Roll took over the UK, Greggs are back with the Vegan Steak Bake.

'Our new vegan friendly Steak Bake has been designed to mirror some of the original Steak Bake’s classic features, including 96 layers of light and crisp puff pastry. But, instead we've teamed up with Quorn to wrap it around savoury flavour mycoprotein pieces and diced onions in a rich gravy.' (Greggs Website).

I need to try this one a couple more times, to fully get a true opinion of it, but from the two times I've tried it, I love it. I love how the pastry is pretty much like the pastry on the rest of the Greggs products, but without any of the animal based products. Sadly the rest of the Bake is a bit hit and miss.

My main problem, is kind of the name... The product resembles more Vegan Minced Beef and Onion Bake and if they had called it that, then this product would be amazing.. The Quorn was amazing but felt more like grains of Mince when it comes to texture, rather than the big chunks which are in the normal Steak Bake. The taste was amazing and umami, but the main flavour that I picked up on, was, Onion and the sauce was quite thick. I don't know why, but it was pretty much one step away from being Jelly, which is the part that I'm still not sure on. Overall though, a great plant based product from Greggs, and, I will definitely pick it up again.

Burger King

Okay, so the Rebel Whopper has been in the press for all the controversial reasons lately. I get that some may not want to try this, due, to being made on the same grill as meat based products. Nevertheless though, I am a hungry chubby person who needs to try everything that is new, and, this is new so I had to try it.

'The indulgent Rebel Whopper® consists of a juicy flame-grilled, 100% plant-based*, sustainably sourced soy patty topped with freshly sliced tomatoes, fresh lettuce, creamy mayonnaise, ketchup, crunchy pickles, and sliced white onions on a toasted sesame seed bun.' (Burger King Website.)

This was pretty good. It tasted like the Whopper that you can buy at Burger King. My main two problems with this product, are, the rest of the stuff in the burger kind of hide the taste of the plant based patty itself which is mainly why most are buying the product, and, that the patty itself is pretty soft which means that the burger is kind of one note in form of texture.

Pulling The Pig Off The Lead & Into My Sandwich | Northern Soul Manchester

Hey everyone!

How are you doing today? (Let me know down below!) I've had a slight break due to University, but halleloo, I'm back!

Welcome to a brand new blog post! I thought that today, I'd talk to you all about some amazing food that I had in Manchester a while ago!

A large squared triangle light brown shop with northern soul in bright yellow font with light brown chairs and circular tables on a bright background

Northern Soul is the first ever Grilled Cheese restaurant within the UK. Based in Manchester, Northern Soul create a mixture of gorgeous grilled cheeses, pasta dishes and everything in between.

I was in Manchester with a friend, and, I thought that I would try out Northern Soul, after hearing so many rave reviews and general good words about them.

We walked in, perused the menu and decided on a selection of products on the menu to try. I was uhming and aching about getting the Deep Fried Pickles, I should've got them and I didn't. I regret that to this day.)

The first dish that we had decided to get was 'Pig On A Lead'. This is a Mac & Cheese Grilled Sandwich with Pulled Pork and BBQ Sauce. I loved this sandwich. Not only were there a mixture of textures from the smooth BBQ sauce, to the squidgy Macaroni, to the crispiness of the sandwiches exterior, but a mix of flavours too. The smoky BBQ sauce cut through the creaminess of the Mac and Cheese that made up most of this sandwich. This was great, but then after a couple of bites, bam! The BBQ and meat come through and just make it such a gorgeous sandwich to eat.

A triangular golden brown sandwich filled with white cheese, crest shaped white pasta and dark brown pieces of pork with a dark brown bbq sauce on a bright background

The second sandwich that I tried, was the, Chorizo and Chilli Jam. First of all, I love Chorizo. I love Chorizo on anything. I could happily munch on it, on it's own all day long! I loved the warmth and spice from both the Chorizo and the Chilli Jam against the richness of the Cheese that was within the sandwich. I also loved the small bits of Chilli and Garlic within the sandwich against the bigger chunks of Chorizo. It was amazing and I think that this one would be great to have on a cold day within England.

A golden brown triangular sandwich filled with white cheese, red chilli jam and circular pieces of brown chorizo on a bright background

I also tried some of their famous Mac and Cheese on it's own. You can't have a Mac and Cheese Grilled Sandwich and not try the Mac and Cheese on it's own! The Macaroni was perfectly al dente, soft, but not too soft. It kept the whole dish from just having one texture throughout. The sauce wasn't  too cheesy, but, you could still tell that there were a good amount of Cheese within the dish. I think that the pot on the own would be fab on its own late at night or maybe after a long night out, the day after.

Northern Soul has to be one of the best casual dining experiences that I have had in a while. Even if me and lactose don't get on all the time, then, I know that when it does I can travel to Northern Soul and have the best Grilled Cheese that there is!

Have you tried Northern Soul? Let me know your opinions down below!

Stuffing My Face Till The Bell Rings | Taco Bell UK Quesarito

Hey everyone!

Welcome to a brand new post! I thought that today, I would talk to you all about the new Quesarito that is at Taco Bell within the UK at the moment. No, this post isn't sponsored, (Taco Bell, if you ever do want to collaborate on a sponsored post, hit me up) I just like Taco Bell a lot, and I thought that, it would be fun to talk about the new products that they are releasing.

Can’t decide between a Quesadilla or a Burrito? Well, now you don’t need to! You can have the best of both worlds with the Quesarito! Grilled Chicken, Mexican rice, sour cream and BBQ sauce inside a tortilla, wrapped inside another torilla of cheese and more BBQ sauce. Perfect for your BBQ needs, whatever the weather. (From Taco Bell's website.)

A close up of a cylindrical white tortilla wrap laid on its side cut open to reveal square pieces of brown chicken, white rice and a dark brown bbq sauce on a bright background.

You can actually choose between Grilled Chicken, or, Seasoned Beef. I decided to choose the Chicken. I got this as a meal, I also got a Crunchwrap Supreme along with it, because, well, I love a delicious Crunchwrap Supreme! If you're a student and you order a meal, you get 15% off if you order a meal.

The Quesarito came in about five different triangles, which, is a good amount for a general fast food meal. The first thing that you taste when you bite into it is definitely the BBQ sauce due to the fact that, there is a double amount of BBQ sauce in this product. The Chicken was moist, the rice was slightly spicy (sort of the same spice that you get on the fries at Taco Bell), and the Sour Cream gave the texture a bit of creaminess. I honestly think that this is an amazing Summer meal especially if you have it with one of Taco Bell's Freezers/Cocktail Freezers. (Yup, Taco Bell do cocktails!)

My only personal problem of the Quesarito is that I think that it could do with a tiny bit more Chicken. I don't really know if you can ask for it to be filled a bit more with it, as, I normally just ask for the straight up product. I got that you only get a tiny bit of the meat in a Burrito but, because of the double Tortilla going on, the Chicken felt very hidden? (If any of you know whether I can awkwardly ask for more meat maybe via an extra charge then let me know down below.)

Does the Quesarito encompass the entirety of both a Quesadilla and a Burrito? Definitely! The components definitely screams Burrito and Quesadilla via things such as the double Tortilla, the rice and the filling. Is it a Summer Meal? Hell yes! Get it with a Freeze like I mentioned above, and, it will honestly make your day especially in this heatwave that we've been having since May!

Check out Taco Bell.

Have you tried out the Quesarito? What do you like from Taco Bell? Let me know down below!

Putting The Shrimp On Leeds Barbie | Walkabout Leeds

Hey everyone!

Welcome to a brand new blog post! Myself and Luke went to Walkabout Leeds, a few weeks ago, to check out the new restaurant and see what their summer in Australia vibe was all about.

A tall milkshake style clear glass that is rimmed at the top with dark brown Nutella, light brown chocolate flake and colourful smarties in different colours, filled with a scoop of dark brown chocolate ice cream blended with white vanilla milkshake to give a light brown colour, topped with a wedge of dark brown chocolate fudge cake, light brown chocolate chip cookie, white squirty cream, light pink candy floss all on a white circular plate with squiggles of dark brown chocolate sauce on a wooden table on a light background.

Come in and experience the awesome spirit of Australia. From the best seats on the high street for sport to the ultimate party venue, a chilled out place for mates to meet up or get stuck into our famous party nights. At Walkabout you can live like there's no tomorrow, laugh like never before and dance like no one is watching. You can always rely on us to look after you and give you a great time, day or night. Great with food and drink, great with people, always the life and soul of the party. This is the Aussie way.

We sat down in a tropical inspired booth, that screamed Australia, via, surfboard inspired benches and tropical print seats. We uhmmed and ahhed over the men, and, after a few minutes, we finally decided on what we wanted.

We decided to choose a plate of Sweetcorn Fritters with Maple Bacon, and, some Crispy Chicken Wings that came with a Chipotle BBQ dip, to start the afternoon of delicious things off. The Sweetcorn Fritters came in a sort of Bhaji-ball style, which is different for me and probably most people, as when you think of Sweetcorn Fritter, you normally think of the little patties that are served at buffets. The Fritters were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside which made you want more of them. The Sweetcorn added a slight sweetness and freshness to the fritters. The Maple Bacon added another texture to the dish, due to the crispiness of the bacon and the stickiness of the Maple Syrup. It also added another dimension of sweetness. Due to the Bacon having a meaty flavour, it didn't make the dish too sweet or sickly. The Wings were crispy but completely drenched and cooked in the BBQ sauce, making them sticky but delicious. The meat was tender and honestly I kept going back for more and more because they were that good.

A triangular yet oval white china plate containing medium brown spherical balls containing yellow pieces of sweetcorn inside, with rectangular dark brown pieces of bacon glistening with a light brown maple glaze with thin strips of light green spring onion and bright red chilli on a light brown wooden table on a light background.

Whilst we were eating these delicious starters, we both ordered a refreshing cocktail to wash all the fabulous food down with. I chose a Pina Colada... Sadly there were no getting caught in the rain, as it was shining brightly through Leeds City Centre. The drink contains a mix of Malibu Coconut Rum shaken with the juices of Costa Rican Pineapples and Coconut & Cream. It also came garnished with half a Passion Fruit which made it that bit more exotic. The creaminess against the smokiness of the BBQ Crispy Chicken Wings was a cool combination. Luke chose a Cherry Pop, which I had a little sip of. This drink contains,  Apple and Cherry Sourz, Grenadine, Apple Juice and Passion Fruit puree, topped off with a Cherry. I have to be in the right mood for Cherry flavoured things, but, I think that the Apple cut through some of it or me which made it even more refreshing and the colour of it looked divine.

A tall clear high ball glass filled with a bright white liquid with clear square cubes of ice in the glass topped with a circular halve of a purple Passion Fruit with a yellow and black interior with a long black straw on a light brown wooden table on a light floral print background.

a large light brown painted room with dark black three legged bar stools with a cream coloured rectangular cushion on top, next to a rectangular dark legged bar table with a cream coloured surface, in front of, a elongated dark brown rectangular wooden bar with several rectangular white lights to make one big rectangle above with several different lights dotted on the ceiling on a light background

Next on the Australian inspired food train was mains, Luke decided to opt for a Great White Fish 'N' Chips. This consists of a Cod Fillet, fries, Mushy Peas and Tartare Sauce. Luke decided to go for Sweet Potato Fries. I only tried a bit of the Fish which was crispy on the outside, and, flaky and delicious on the inside. I chose the Surf and Turf, which consists of, a 10oz Rump Steak and Breaded Prawns, served with, Chips Grilled Corn On The Cob, Beer Battered Onion Rings and Beetroot Slaw. I loved the Steak, it cut like butter. I loved the freshness of the Prawns against the charring of the Steak. I loved the Sweetness of the Corn against the freshness of the Slaw as well as it gave off many different contrasts. I didn't love the Prawns being on the skewers sadly as it meant that you spent ten minutes, slowly trying to get some Prawns off a stick.

a large light brown painted room with dark black three legged bar stools with a cream coloured rectangular cushion on top, next to a rectangular dark legged bar table with a cream coloured surface, in front of, a elongated dark brown rectangular wooden bar with several rectangular white lights to make one big rectangle above with several different lights dotted on the ceiling on a light background

We then ordered another drink. I decided to choose a good old refreshing, and, magnificent Mojito. If you've never had a Mojito before then it consists of, Bacardi Carta Blanca, mixed Lime, Mint and Soda. It was everything that you want in a drink in nice weather. Bright and zingy, fresh, and a little bit sweet. Luke opted for a Long Island Iced Tea.. This drink consists of, Smirnoff Red Vodka, Cointreau, Gordon's Gin, Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila and Bacardi Carta Blanca mixed with lime and topped with Coca-Cola Zero Sugar. I only had a little sip, but I always love Long Island Iced Tea's and this was no exception.

a white rectangular plate containing a long light brown battered Cod fillet with a circular wedge of yellow Lemon on top of it, a stack of long rectangular chunky Sweet Potato Fries and a pile of bright vivid green Mushy Peas next to it, with a small oval white bowl next to it containing a white Tartare Sauce on a light brown wooden rectangular table on a bright background

A white rectangular china based plate with a cylindrical matching pot containing dark orange sweet potato fries, a yellow cylindrical corn on the cob, circular light brown onion rings, a dark brown rump steak with black grill marks on the top with tjree dark brown crispy c shaped prawns on a wooden stick on top of it, next to, a pile or red and green chooped vegetables on a light brown rectangular table on a bright background.

To top off the wonderful time that we had, we decided to order a Freakshake a piece. Yes, a lactose intolerant person thought that it would be a great idea to order a Freakshake. I mean, it was, but my stomach didn't think so later on... The Freakshake at Walkabout consists of, Vanilla flavour ice cream and chocolate fudge milkshake poured into a glass, smothered in Nutella hazelnut spread and Smarties. Topped with a wedge of chocolate fudge cake, a double-chocolate cookie, candy-floss, squirty cream, mini marshmallows, chocolate flavoured sauce and icing sugar

I loved the mixture of the Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Fudge Milkshake as it made a mouth achingly cold yet delicious drink. I love Chocolate Fudge Cake and Cookies no matter what, but I thought the addition of Candy Floss gave the drink some texture. I love Nutella in any form,,, All in all, this drink was everything, and I'd go back to Walkabout for this alone.

If you're a student, then you can flash your ID at the bar for discounts on food and drink no matter when at Walkabout. If you're not a student, and, you still want to get in on the action, then, ask for a card at the bar.

Check out your local Walkabout and comment down below if you've been/like the sound of any of the dishes, or, drinks mentioned above. ]

I hope that you have liked this food based post and I hope that you come back to read the next post.

Sandwiched By Food | Trinity Kitchen Supper Club

Hey everyone!

Welcome to a brand new blog post! I was invited to the Trinity Kitchen Supper Club by the amazing guys over at Trinity Leeds, and, I thought that today I would talk to you all about it.

Trinity Kitchen is a open plan food court in the heart of Leeds city centre, that offers a plethora of food from different cuisines and countries, such as Vietnam, America, Mexico, and many more Trinity Kitchen also offers the citizens of Leeds, brand new food vendors on an eight week rota, which ensures that they get to enjoy a selection of different food vendors throughout the year.

Two pieces of a white triangular sandwich with black grill marks scorched on it with a dark brown meat interior and white oozing interior to represent the cheese on a white square plate on a light background.

We (myself and Luke) tried out Pavs Dhaba. They serve authentic Indian veggie street food, including, pakoras, bhajis and much more. We decided to get a mixture of things and I loved them all. I have always had a thing for Pakoras, and these were no disappointment, Crunchy, warming and everything that you would need, whilst chatting to a friend with a drink, on the outskirts of Trinity Kitchen, whilst looking at the view of Leeds City Centre.

A selection of lightly brown Indian treats in the shape of circular patties and slightly oval lightly brown battered ovals with a light green salad consisting of light green shredded lettuce and dark green cubed pieces of Cucumber on a white square polystyrene plate on a light wooden table on a light background.

After Pava Dhaba, we... Well it was more myself, than Luke, wanted to try out Christopher Gowan's Steak Sandwiches. Whilst checking out the vendors before going to the Supper Club, I saw that they served a Bourbon Steak Sandwich and well, I love Steak, I love Bourbon and I love sandwiches, so I saw no downside to trying them out. The Steak was succulent, the onions were soft and sweet, the sauce was to die for and the bread on the outside was crisp, which gave a great texture contrast against the soft onions and the slightly soft Steak. I'd definitely recommend that you try one before they leave TK.

Two pieces of a white triangular sandwich with black grill marks scorched on it with a dark brown meat interior and white oozing interior to represent the cheese on a white square plate on a light background.

Next on the delicious food train, was the wonderful Wagyu Lookin' At? (get it, because what you looking at?). These guys use Yorkshire meat throughout the entirety of the menu, from Yorkshire Wagyu meat in their burgers, to, free range smoked Yorkshire Bacon on top of the burgers. I got to try one of these amazing beauties and I wanted more instantly. I have never tried Wagyu meat before, but I have heard great things, and these guys did not let me down at all! If you want a completely new take on a great burger, then I definitely recommend checking these guys out!

A circular burger with a light brown sesame seed bun cut into quarters in a light white square box on a light wooden table on a light background.

Dapur Malaysia will make anyones day that little bit better, via their Malaysian street food. The team takes inspiration from their mother’s cooking and their time growing up in Malaysia. Myself and Luke, tried some of their amazing street food, including some spiced Cheesy things with a great sweet and spicy jam and some Malaysian Curry Bites that were to die for!

A bunch of oval shaped golden brown battered cheese on a light white square box with a circular pot of red sweet chilli sauce on a light brown table on a light background.

Last but by no least, were Slap and Pickle. Innuendos aside, Slap and Pickle create delicious burges, amazing hot dogs, great pickles and, even items such as, a good old Pickleback. I got to enjoy some amazing Vegan Chilli Cheese Fries. There is also a Vegan Chilli Cheese Dog for, those of you who are Vegan. I I loved the Vegan Chilli Cheese Fries, the fries were crisp, the spicy sauce coated every fry, the cheese added a  nice smooth melted texture to it. I also loved that, due to the cheese being vegan, this meant that I could eat all of this without any of the stomach pain with normal Cheese, so for anyone who can't digest dairy but wants a delicious Hot Dog/Fries then I'd check these amazing guys out.

A square black tray with a sheet of square white tissue covered with golden brown fries, red sriracha sauce and golden cheese on a circular light golden brown table on a light background.

Have you tried any of these? Let me know down below!

If you haven't tried them and want to know a little bit more about them then click here.

I hope that you have enjoyed this food based post and I hope that you come back next time for another blog post!

Have a great day!

Creating The Ultimate Pizza | MOD Pizza Cardigan Fields Review

Hey,

So like every other restaurant tasting, this one started with myself and Luke getting the train into Leeds. We decided to then get a train to Burley Park and then an Uber to MOD Pizza as I sometimes have a bit of difficulty locating where things are if I have never been there before so it just seemed easier to finally use Uber and get there quickly and safely.

Once we got to our destination, we were greeted by a great guy outside, we had a little discussion about things such as Disney and then we made our way inside. We were greeted by a host and the great guys behind the guys behind the counter which is an amazing feature in my opinion. It just makes the whole place feel more welcoming compared to any sort of Pizza place where you feel a bit uncomfortable because they write the food down, bring the food and thats it.

MOD Pizza is a pizza company that originally started within Seattle just like the very well known Starbucks did... MOD actually stands for Made On Demand and sums up the company very well because thats the concept of the pizzas. They're made on demand of yourself so you can have your pizza however you like it. At the same time of making the pizzas personalised, MOD wanted to make them affordable so families could come and enjoy a pizza and have a great time therefore all pizzas are £7.77 (I think... I know that they are £7 something.) You can even get them ordered which is amazing in my opinion. They have only just set up shot within UK via coming straight to Leeds but they will soon be setting up Brighton. I'm honestly expecting MOD Pizza to take the UK by storm.

We were then greeted by a woman called Celise who told us all about MOD Pizza and basically told me what I have told you above but in a bit more detail. We then chose a table, the manager of the new Leeds store then came up and said hi to us and then told me that I had somehow chosen the only dirty table in the restaurant and then cleaned it straightaway. I mean I chose there because there was a massive window behind me therefore any pictures would have a good chunk of natural lighting but hey ho I pick good tables!

We then discussed what we wanted because there is quite a lot of choice at MOD. Luke finally decided on a Caspian pizza but wanted one of the things changing (thats the great thing about MOD, you can have one of their already combo'd pizzas and change something if you don't like it or build your own) and I decided that I would build my own! Celise then asked if I wanted any milkshakes as I was browsing the milkshake board. I decided to go for an Oreo one as I love Oreos and I chose a Strawberry one for Luke.

When you go up to order your pizza, you are presented with a Subway sort of counter where you tell the person how many pizza's you want etc and then if you want to build your own etc, they write your name down and you move along to create your own pizzas etc. You're presented with sauce, cheese, meat, vegetables and extras. I went for a tomato sauce base because I wanted to let the toppings do all of the talking. I then went for lactose free cheese because I wanted to see what the cheese was like and because well me and lactose don't get on sometimes to put it politely. I then decided to choose Grilled Chicken, Bacon and Chorizo... I love Chicken, I love the crispiness of Bacon and I love the heat of Chorizo! I then decided to go for Roasted Red Peppers, Roasted Red Onion and Pineapple and then topped it off with Roasted Cauliflower and Asparagus. Yes, you read right! I also got some Garlic Strips with Ranch Sauce because I love garlic bread and Ranch sauce!

Making of pizza

The Garlic Strips came out first. They were amazing. They were topped with Parmesan which made them slightly salty but it was nice in contrast to strong Garlic. The garlic was pretty strong but I love it when Garlic Bread is extra Garlicky. I'm not sure why but I really do so it was amazing. The base was crispy on the edges but soft and served quite well as a starter/side. The Ranch sauce was to die for. It was slightly tart which cut through all of the garlic. The dip was also quite cool which contrasted really well with the hot temperature of the strips and made it quite refreshing to eat. If I was with a lot of friends then I'd order some drinks and a couple of these and just chat away.  These get a 9.5/10. The only problem is that I had to share them!

The drinks then came. They were amazing. If you go onto over to Luke's post (I'll link when its live) then you'll be able to find out more about the Strawberry milkshake! I had a little sip and I loved it and I'm not a fan of Strawberry flavoured milkshakes. The Oreo one was too die for! I love Oreos! Sometimes when you ask for an Oreo Milkshake they just sprinkle some oreo crumbs on top but this one had Oreo running all the way through it and as it had a Vanilla base it literally tasted like the cream and biscuit bit of an Oreo. I mean my stomach doesn't agree that much with dairy but oh my god I would have these again and again and suffer the consequences. 9.7/10. Anything Oreo based could always do with more Oreo added... There's never too much Oreo!

Luke's pizza came out and I had a slice because well it would be rude not to... I did go up and order it and I did make an adjustment to it (removing Blue Cheese and adding Bacon) so I wanted to see if my adjustments were a good move and they were! It was so good! The Chicken, Bacon and Onion together were just amazing and that BBQ swirl made it a tad messy but definitely worth it. I mean you might want to have a few napkins at hand for when eating this. 9.5/10. If you want to read a more in depth post about the Caspian pizza then go and read Luke's post.

My pizza came out! It was delectable! The base was soft in the middle but crunchy on the edges, you couldn't tell the difference in the taste of Cheese from the Mozzarella to the Lacto Free. The succulent Chicken against the crispy Bacon was so good and then the heat from the Chorizo came afterwards. It was a gentle heat which was quite nice! I love Pineapple on a pizza mainly because I love Pineapple. It worked well against the saltiness of the Bacon! The roasted peppers and onions added a bit of softness to the dish which was different. The Roasted Cauliflower was also slightly different. I would never think to put Cauliflower on a pizza but it really worked. It added a slight sweetness and again added that bit of softness to the crunchy Italian dish. The Asparagus added a bit of crunch. All in all a great pizza! 9.8/10. I like to not give anything a bang on 10 because theres always things that can be tweaked with.

I then had one of their homemade drinks. Celise was telling me all about how she had made the Strawberry Lemonade so I decided to go with that whilst Luke went for a Traditional Lemonade. The Strawberry Lemonade tasted like Pink Lemonade Lucozade but more zingy. You could tell that it had been homemade and that it was made with love. It just tasted like Summer within a drink! 9.8/10.

All in all, MOD Pizza serves delicious food and drink at a great price. The restaurant has a great vibe especially with the staff shouting hi and bye when you enter/go. I will definitely be coming back to have more pizza and a good few more drinks. (They also have a Coke shots machine so you can have unlimited drinks which is great for when its really warm or if you've got young ones coming along.)

If you haven't been to MOD Pizza within Cardigan Fields within Leeds then I would urge you to go straight away because it is completely worth it!

I hope that you have enjoyed this post! If you were to make your own ultimate pizza then what would be on it? Let me know down below!
